6 Month Fixed Term / Secondment Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking registered nurse to lead on the new community liver nurse service.
This new nurse led service is aimed at the early identification, staging and management of liver disease. The role will predominantly relate to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease but will also encompass other causes such as alcohol related liver disease.
Key roles include the development of nurse led care pathways, introduction of nurse led clinics, comprehensive patient assessment, provision of patient education & healthy lifestyle interventions.
In addition, the post holder will have a unique role in the education & provision of specialist liver support to local community teams.
Applicants must have a passion for improving care for people with liver disease. Experience of caring for patients with liver disease in the acute or community setting is essential, as is venepuncture and a teaching or mentorship qualification. There is an expectation that the successful applicant will be in a position to instigate the service from day one, therefore evidence of post registration education in liver disease is deemed essential.
Excellent communication skills are required as this post holder will be the liaison between the acute trust and community teams.
Training & support will be provided by the liver team at Hull University Teaching Hospitals.
This post is a 6 months pilot scheme to develop the new service with a view to become permanent dependent on funding.
Applicants with a preference for full or part time hours will be considered. If part time, 22.5 hours per week is the minimum requirement, in which case the duration of the pilot scheme would be extended accordingly.
For suitable applicants within Hull University Teaching Hospitals this post offers an excellent secondment opportunity.
