Band 6 – Emergency Department

Hull University Teaching Hospital Emergency Department is based at Hull Royal Infirmary. The department in recent years has undergone a major 12 million pound redevelopment providing first class facilities, however a redevelopment programme is underway to further improve our walk in / Primary care facilities.

 We are looking for band 6 adult nurses to help drive through improvement and service redesign. We are looking for staff who wish to be part of a caring and compassionate ED team who are hardworking, dedicated and have a passion for delivering the best care. 

The Emergency Department currently sees approximately 138,000 patients a year and provides a challenging and demanding place in which to work. The department receives up to 140 ambulance a day and is a major trauma receiving hospital, the post holder will have the opportunity to rotate around each of the areas as part of their development if they desire to.

Our Emergency Care area currently sees 180 -200 patients a day, we are looking to design and implement a full streaming model of which the band 6 role is paramount to its success, supporting leadership and signposting patients to appropriate pathways.

Hull Emergency Department are passionate about getting it right for patients and their families. To support this we are looking to appoint passionate, enthusiastic motivated and dynamic nurses who are ready to take the next steps to develop their clinical, leadership and managerial skills

Based predominately within the Emergency Care setting but with the potential to rotate and undertake the role of senior nurse within initial assessment and our 10 bay resuscitation suit. The successful candidate will be instrumental in undertaking the senior nursing lead assessing, planning delivering and evaluating care , supporting colleagues in providing care and providing leadership to the teams

We are looking for RGN Level 1 nurses, ideally with post registration at a senior band 5 or equivalent. Study to degree (level 6) in a clinically focused emergency care course or equivalent is desirable.
