We seek an enthusiastic individual for the post of locum Consultant in Palliative Medicine in Hull to cover maternity leave, commencing January 2020 for 6 months in the first instance which may be extended up to 12 months. Working in an established team of three consultants in palliative medicine, the post holder will provide senior medical input for the acute hospital specialist palliative care team and Hull Community service.  Duties will include reviews of complex patients at Castle Hill Hospital and Hull Royal Infirmary, attending the weekly Specialist Palliative Care MDTs and community based assessments.  The Clinical Nurse Specialist teams deliver a 7-day advisory service to Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospitals and Hull Community.

Hull community services are delivered by City Health Care Partnership (CHCP) CIC which is an independent “for better profit” and co-owned Community Interest Company responsible for providing local health and care services.

Hull University Teaching Hospitals (HUTH) NHS Trust is a teaching partner with the Hull York Medical School which provides undergraduate teaching opportunities. The University of Hull Wolfson Centre for Palliative Care Research has been established with the appointment of a Professor in Palliative Medicine bring more opportunities for clinical research.

As city of culture 2017, Hull is a thriving University city with excellent shopping and leisure facilities including concert halls, theatres and Europe’s largest aquarium, The Deep. It is surrounded by attractive villages and countryside with the minster town of Beverley nearby. It is within easy reach of the Yorkshire Moors and Dales and the East Coast. It has excellent road and rail links with the rest of Britain, as well as ferry and air links to Europe.
