Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Specialty Doctor to join the Department of Immunology and Allergy at the Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The post will be based at the Castle Hill Hospital and provide clinical support to the wider team comprised of two full time consultants and three specialist nurses. Candidates are expected to hold postgraduate qualification in Internal Medicine (MRCP or equivalent). Previous experience in Immunology and/or Allergy is desirable but not essential.

Candidates within the UK/EEU who are interested in obtaining initial experience in Clinical Immunology and Allergy before applying for formal speciality training posts are encouraged to apply.

We also encourage to apply overseas candidates who are interested in obtaining UK experience in Clinical Immunology and Allergy in busy NHS environment. Candidates without GMC registration who are successful at the interview will be supported to obtain GMC registration as part of the GMC sponsorship scheme provided they are eligible for the scheme, i.e. have not attempted or failed PLAB test before.

The job plan will incorporate sessions to support the outpatient Immunology and Allergy services and there will be ample opportunities for the successful candidate to use or develop specific interests in clinical or laboratory medicine, clinical education and research.

Main duties of the job

Provide clinical input to the assessment and management of patients with immunological and allergic disorders.

  • Work with other members of the clinical team and actively participate in multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with members of the team, other teams and services within the trust and relevant external agencies including general practitioners.
  • Maintain appropriate clinical records and undertake necessary clinical correspondence and administration.

  • Higher degrees including MSc, PhD or MD (where the research thesis is not part of first medical degree)
