Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine. This post would be suitable for someone who is taking a year out of training or is looking for a post to help get back into training. The successful applicant would join an amazing team of nurses, doctors and allied practitioners in the Emergency Department of Hull Royal Infirmary.
The Emergency Department is situated at Hull Royal Infirmary. The ED in Hull is an accredited major trauma receiving hospital for adults and a Trauma Unit for children. It is one of the largest in the UK seeing more than 139,000 new attenders per annum. It serves the whole of the Hull and East Riding catchment area as well as parts of the North Sea.

The department has excellent facilities including:-
• PEM training centre
• A newly built, dedicated Paediatric ED with two resuscitation rooms, glass fronted cubicles, 7 consulting rooms and a separate waiting area.
• A ten bay adult resus with individual glass fronted bays, identically equipped and same handed with new equipment throughout.
• A large open plan majors area with 24 glass fronted bays and five monitored rooms.
• An adjacent spiral CT scanner to facilitate rapid diagnosis of a range of conditions, with excellent time to CT (habitually the best in TARN)
• Streaming care model for walk-in patients
• Nurse led treatment protocols in the Paediatric ED
• Nurse Practitioners and GPs providing frontline care

The ED in Hull has seen a great deal of investment and support in the last few years. Our nurse staffing is in line with NICE recommendations, there is a vibrant quality improvement programme and departmental morale is really good. Our CQC rating is good, we have improved metrics in training reports, patients surveys, complaints and incidents. It would be a great time to join us. The successful applicant will have opportunities for audit/QIP, have a dedicated supervisor and have access to teaching opportunities.

The Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute services from hospital sites with some specialised services aimed at an extended catchment area of 1.2 million people. The Trust has a budget of £481 million and employs 8,000 staff and is committed to the continuous development of a service of the highest possible quality. The Trust, in collaboration with the Universities of Hull and York, established the joint Undergraduate Medical School of the Universities of Hull and York (HYMS), which celebrated its tenth year in 2013.

The successful candidate must hold a valid registration with the GMC and have at least 4 months’ EM experience in the UK.
This post will attract relocation expenses under the Trust’s policy.
