The HUTH Department of Infection provides a ground breaking  bench-to-bedside- and-beyond service which includes modern efficient laboratories and purpose built inpatient services.  Our team is now looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic colleague to join our Department of Infection, currently including 9 WTE infection (ID / Microbiology / Virology) consultants. We would be happy to accept applications from anyone with or within 6 months of a CCT in Infectious Diseases, with or without a CCT in Medical Microbiology / Virology / GIM. This is a new substantive posts. The role will vary depending on the candidate and may include clinical management of both in- and outpatient infectious diseases as well as laboratory duties, although the specific work will depend on the subspecialty interests and abilities of the successful applicant. The on-call commitment will be to the Infection on call rota only and will be approximately 1 in 7. The Department of Infection admitted and managed the first case of COVID-19 in the UK, and has an expanding role within the trust and regionally, together with a developing research role.  We aim to provide excellent patient focused and innovative infection prevention, diagnosis and management for the region of Humber Coast & Vale in hospital and non-hospital settings, whilst being a recognised national centre and delivering high quality research and training.

Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute services from two hospital sites, with a total of about 1300 beds. It serves a population of approximately 1.2 million, and provides a wide range of tertiary services. As a major employer in the area (approximately 8000 staff) the Trust is committed to continuous development to provide the highest possible quality of care. There are close links with the Hull York Medical School and a commitment to teaching and research is encouraged.

Already a vibrant and dynamic city, Hull’s vision is to be one of the UK’s top ten destinations for shopping, art, sport, leisure and, most importantly, living. A huge amount has already been spent on creating new shopping centres, waterfront living spaces, art studios and visitor attractions. It is no wonder that Hull was awarded the UK city of culture 2017 and within the next 5 years the city will benefit from over £250 million of investment – Is this still true or is that just copy-pasted from old adverts?. Outside of the city there is a diverse coastline with award winning beaches and beautiful countryside all on the doorstep. Housing is plentiful and affordable and there is a good selection of high quality schools.

This post does attract relocation expenses under the Trust’s policy.
