An opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Specialist Nurse Lead in Blood Transfusion, within Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Leading a small team of Transfusion Practitioners and working closely with scientific and clinical staff, you will be ensuring the Blood Transfusion service has a positive impact on patient safety and the patient journey within the Trust. The post holder will also be responsible for managing and supporting the Phlebotomy team and ensuring timely provision of this key support service to clinical areas.

This is a challenging but rewarding role which would be suited to an experienced nurse currently working at Band 6 level, applicants with an interest in education, risk management and development of Blood transfusion clinical practise, especially those with a specific interest in patient safety and quality of care.

The Pathology Service has a proven track record of staff development and the post holder will be supported in achieving specialist qualifications in Blood Transfusion and improving knowledge of Blood Safety & Quality Regulations (BSQR). The successful applicant will work closely with regional Blood Transfusion networks and national committees, and share good practise with Transfusion Practitioners from other network teams.

The post holder will operate across both Castle Hill Hospital and Hull Royal Infirmary, overseeing services at both locations.
