We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Biomedical Scientist to work in our busy, friendly, Blood Science department at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The appointed person will be based in the Specialist section of the Clinical Chemistry department and will be responsible for the leadership and management of this area. The post holder may also be required to deputise for the Chief Biomedical Scientist when appropriate. We are looking for a scientist who is hard working, innovative, sociable, and works well as part of a team.
You will be registered with the HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist, have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Biochemistry / Blood Sciences Laboratory and hold an MSc in Clinical Biochemistry or equivalent postgraduate qualification. The Blood Sciences department has a large test repertoire and is one of the busiest and best-equipped laboratories in the region, processing approximately 8.5 million tests per year. The Specialist Section in Biochemistry is equipped with mass spectrometers, atomic absorption spectrophotometers, HPLC and electrophoresis systems.The Core Biochemistry laboratory is equipped with full Beckman Coulter automation including DXi and AU series analysers.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
