Consultant in Anaesthesia with a Special Interest in Acute and Chronic Pain.
This post is advertised to support the chronic pain and anaesthetic services at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a new post.
The anaesthetic department covers two hospitals, Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital. There are 62 consultants within the department who provide in excess of 30,000 anaesthetics per year to a vast range of surgical specialties and many other clinical areas.
The department of chronic pain is based at Castle Hill Hospital with over 1800 new referrals and performs over 1600 procedures per year. There are 6 consultants in this department which has a significant and proactive teaching and research programme. The outpatient clinics are provided at the East Riding Community Hospital, Beverley and Castle Hill Hospital. This new post has been created to meet the existing demands for chronic pain management for the region.
Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has 1293 beds and an annual budget of £500 million. The Trust supports a variety of tertiary services and is both a Major Cancer Centre and Major Trauma Centre. The East Riding of Yorkshire is a very popular place to live. It extends to several well known East Coast resorts as well as containing the Yorkshire Wolds and Yorkshire Moors. The cost of living is significantly lower than elsewhere in the country making it an excellent place to achieve a good work/life balance.
