Previously called Physician’s Assistant/Associate (Anaesthesia)
Fully Qualified and Trainee Posts
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Anaesthesia Associate (previously titled a Physician’s Assistant in Anaesthetics) to join our growing team at Hull University Teaching Hospitals. We have a well-established team of anaesthesia associates which is expanding to include further qualified and trainee posts.
The posts will be based in our large Anaesthetics Department and working across both the Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital, Cottingham sites. We would like to hear from experienced registered healthcare professionals who are critical thinkers and are passionate about transforming care.
Due to the specialist area of work it is essential that you have experience working in theatres/anaesthetics. Candidates wishing to apply at Trainee level will be employed at AFC Band 7 with support to develop their clinical skills with an MSc in Anaesthetic Practice
The training is remote academic learning with in house training delivered on site at HUTH, with official assessments held at the University of Birmingham and once at the Royal College of Anaesthetists in London.
Trainees will work in Anaesthetics as part of their wider training whilst they complete the post-graduate diploma in Anaesthetics over a 27 month period (supernumerary), followed by a dissertation to masters level (additional 9-12 months).
Once deemed competent at various points throughout the programme, you will be required to undertake advanced clinical assessment and examination of patients, initiate clinical interventions and treatments, and provide continuity of care from a medical perspective.
On completion of training and the post graduate qualification gained the trainee AA will become part of the staffing rota for service delivery and will be supported to the Masters level qualification. Once the Masters is awarded AA’s will be progressed to AFC 8a and will be an integral part of the trusts Anaesthetics team.
If you are looking for a challenging yet rewarding position we would welcome your application. We are therefore looking for individuals who have significant post-qualifying experience and have the drive, ambition and positivity to make this role a success.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
