B7 NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGIST, NUCLEAR MEDICINE DEPARTMENT
CASTLE HILL HOSPITAL/HULL ROYAL INFIRMARY.
FULL TIME (37.5 HOURS PER WEEK)
The Nuclear Medicine Department provides a diagnostic and therapeutic service at Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital.
The department operates three gamma cameras two with SPECT/CT facility, an on-site radiopharmacy, a gamma sample counter, a nuclear medicine therapy suite, and provides support for several intra-operative gamma probes. A PET/CT facility is run by Alliance Medical with support from the Nuclear Medicine Department. A new Radiopharmacy and cyclotron facility build is underway.
The post holder will lead the Myocardial Perfusion Scintigraphy aspect of the service and act as deputy to the Lead Technologist.
Applicants must have a relevant degree (or equivalent) and a teaching qualification. He/She must have extensive nuclear medicine skills and competency based training, experience of authorising by protocol under IR(ME)R. Experience of the interpretation of stress myocardial perfusion studies to determine if rest imaging is required would be an advantage.
Experience of day to day management of a nuclear medicine department, competency assessment and staff development (PDR) is essential.
The work is varied and demanding with an emphasis on accuracy, reliability and adaptability. The post holder must be able to prioritise demanding workloads, work under their own initiative and as part of a multidisciplinary team under pressure is essential.
The post holder will be a key member of the Nuclear Medicine team and will have direct contact with patients, medical, scientific, nursing and other staff. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are therefore essential.
