The mortuary & Bereavement service has a vacancy for a Trainee Anatomical Pathology Technologist. You will be primarily  based at the Hull and East Riding Public Mortuary  at Hull royal Infirmary You will be  required to undertake a 2 year  training programme  to achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology.

 This is a demanding post and you must be able to deal sympathetically with bereaved relatives and be a good communicator at all levels. The work of a Technologist involves the preparation of the deceased for post-mortem examination and assisting the pathologist throughout the post-mortem process.

 Other duties include specialist post-mortem techniques, conducting external examinations, admission and release procedures, classification processes and various administrative duties. The nature of the job is such that it demands high standards of integrity and particular emphasis is placed on confidentiality.

You will also be required to train and assist in the delivery of the bereavement service and provide cover at satellite sites during busy periods.  

Out of hours cover is provided via an on-call system and you will be required to assist in the provision of this service requirement. 

Applicants must  have a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including maths, English and a Science subject.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
