Applications are invited for the post of Specialty Doctor in Oncology.

The Oncology department in Hull has developed rapidly over the last few years and is committed to the continuous improvement of its service.  You will join a team of 11 Clinical Oncologists, 8 Medical Oncologists, 5 Consultants Palliative Medicine and 12 Oncology Specialty doctors   / SpR’s who work as a team, each having specialist areas of interest. Services are based mainly at Queen’s Centre for Oncology and Haematology, Castle Hill Hospital and the duties will involve in and out patient care, acute oncology, radiotherapy & chemotherapy clinics and peripheral hospital clinics in Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Scarborough.  There will be need to participate in the mid grade on call rota. The candidates will be encouraged to continuing professional development and gain Postgraduate qualifications in Oncology.

The Department relocated to the Castle Hill Hospital site in August 2008 within a new integrated 116-bedded Oncology/Haematology department as part of a £67m PFI initiative.  This expansion enables the service focus and improves the quality of services in line with Cancer Measures and Improving Outcomes Guidance. This is a new post to improve provision of medical care within team.

The Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute services from three hospital sites with some specialised services aimed at an extended catchment area of 1.2 million people.  The Trust now forms part of the Hull York Medical School with both the NHS Trusts and Universities of Hull and York.

This post will attract appropriate relocation expenses; discussed at appointment.
