The post holder will train to provide an expert specialist nursing service for patients who require upper and/or lower endoscopy procedures. The role includes training under an accredited (Health Education England) programme with support from the Hull based clinical team to become a competent practitioner in Endoscopy. the post is initially a secondment or fixed term training contract with a view to full time substantive once trained and competency achieved. The training post is a fully supported role in an exiting and dynamic forward thinking team.
Once competency achieved you will act as a specialist resource in developing practice on the endoscopy unit and work as part of a team of endoscopy specialist nurses to deliver procedures to a defined group of patients along side consultant Gastroenterologists. Once qualified you will be required to maintain appropriate clinical standards and accreditation. The post holder will work with the Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) to develop/ review Endoscopy policies and guidelines. Among other responsibility's the team will audit the delivery of Endoscopy procedures/outcomes and mortality as well as maintain a high standard of practice as defined by JAG. (Joint Advisory Group on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy )
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
