Applicants are invited for the post of Consultant Vascular Interventional Radiologist based at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
This is a substantive replacement post to maintain the existing services in vascular interventional radiology. Part time applicants will be considered. Hull Royal infirmary provides the regional vascular services via a network hub and spoke arrangement with North Lincolnshire and Goole. The region extends North to Bridlington and west as far as Pocklington with vascular surgical clinics in all these locations.
We provide level 4 services to York in the form of fenestrated/branched Aortic stent grafts, Thoracic stent grafts, complex embolisation and TIPS procedures. Complex venous access and arterio-venous malformation work is also undertaken and Hull provides one of 2 nationally accredited pulmonary AVM services. These services are provided in collaboration with Plastic and Vascular surgery and the Respiratory department.
An additional two year fellowship or equivalent in vascular IR following completion of a recognised radiology training program would be a significant advantage. Significant experience of vascular interventional procedures is a prerequisite in all applicants.
The Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals (HEY) NHS Trust has an annual budget of circa £500 million, employs over 9,000 staff and serves an extended population of 1.25 million. It is based on 2 sites – Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital, the latter providing the cardiology centre, state of the art Cancer Centre for the region and a dedicated Neuro-rehabilitation ward. Neurosurgical services cover the region extending across North Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire, Humberside and East Yorkshire.
Hull was the UK City of Culture in 2017. The region features a diverse coastline ranging from award winning sandy beaches to dramatic cliffs. Inland you will find mile upon mile of green, unspoilt countryside and woodland that is perfect for walking, cycling or horse riding. There are numerous picture card villages providing delightful but affordable housing within 10 miles of the hospitals and city centre and a good selection of high achieving schools to choose from. Hull’s vision is to be one of the UK’s top 10 destinations for shopping, art, sport, leisure and most importantly, living. A large amount has already been spent on creating new shopping centres, waterfront living spaces, art studios, office complexes and visitor attractions such as the Kingston Communications Stadium and The Deep, the award winning aquarium in Hull.
