Applicants are invited for the post of Consultant in Interventional & Diagnostic Neuroradiology based at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
This new post is intended for a fulltime substantive interventional & diagnostic neuroradiologist. Part time working options will be considered. The appointee will add to a team of 5 fulltime and 4 part time neuroradiologists, between them providing the full spectrum of diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology. Main commitments of the post are in interventional neuroradiology.
This post has arisen as a result of increasing demands on the Interventional Neuro radiology service especially with the advent of mechanical thrombectomy for stroke.
The on call commitment is currently 1 in 5. The rota currently operates on a 1 night Monday to Thursday and 1:5 weekends basis. 1.0 PA is currently allocated to the on-call duty. There is a considerable volume of CT scanning to be reported over the weekend which accounts for the bulk of the on call commitment.
The neuroradiology service is responsible for all neuroimaging and the majority of acute spinal imaging for the Trust and supports the Regional Neurology and Neurosurgery Services serving a population of approximately 1.25 million. Endovascular, thrombectomy and spinal interventional services are also provided to this extended population.
Neurosurgery and Neurology are based at Hull Royal Infirmary although a component of elective spinal neurosurgery is performed at Castle Hill Hospital, Cottingham.
The Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals (HEY) NHS Trust has an annual budget of circa £481 million, employs over 8,000 staff and serves an extended population of 1.25 million. It is based on 2 sites – Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital, the latter providing the cardiology centre, state of the art Cancer Centre for the region and a dedicated Neuro-rehabilitation ward. Neurosurgical services cover the region extending across North Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire, Humberside and East Yorkshire.
Hull was the UK City of Culture in 2017. The region features a diverse coastline ranging from award winning sandy beaches to dramatic cliffs. Inland you will find mile upon mile of green, unspoilt countryside and woodland that is perfect for walking, cycling or horse riding. There are numerous picture card villages providing delightful but affordable housing within 10 miles of the hospitals and city centre and a good selection of high achieving schools to choose from. Hull’s vision is to be one of the UK’s top 10 destinations for shopping, art, sport, leisure and most importantly, living. A large amount has already been spent on creating new shopping centres, waterfront living spaces, art studios, office complexes and visitor attractions such as the Kingston Communications Stadium and The Deep, the award winning aquarium in Hull.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
