We are looking for a well-motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Biomedical Scientist to complement our existing team and provide a diagnostic service for the Hull and East Yorkshire area. Candidates should be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council and have a significant amount of post registration experience. Candidates should have attained specialist status by having completed (or be very near to completion) the IBMS specialist portfolio, or can show equivalence.
Our busy department is UKAS accredited as well as HCPC accredited for training, offering experience in a wide variety of Histopathology techniques. The laboratory, which was custom built in May of 2000 is spacious and very well equipped. We provide the Histopathology requirements of a population of over 500,000 in the Hull and East Yorkshire areas and receive around of 40,000 surgical cases per year. We have an extensive immunocytochemistry service which and we also provide a regional neuropathology service. These are newly created posts to aid in the expansion of our BMS cut-up service.
Hull is a large City with motorway links via M62 or Humber Bridge to the rest of the country. In addition, the City and surrounding areas offer a wide variety of leisure pursuits. Accommodation/housing costs are relatively low.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
