The post will cover Patient Meal Services at both Hull Royal Infirmary (HRI) and Castle Hill Hospital (CHH) with occasional work within Patient Meals Production Unit (CHH).
The successful candidates will have planned daily shifts, but these are subject to change, changes would be verbally agreed by line managers during roster planning.
Post – 19.75 hours per week on a two week pattern
The post is over a rolling 2 week period working alternative weekends and across both sites, shift pattern as below;
Week 1: 24hrs
Thursday 15.00 – 18.30pm
Friday 15.00 – 18.30pm
Saturday 08.00 – 13.30 & - 15.00 – 18.30pm
Sunday 08.00 – 13.30 & - 15.00 – 18.30pm
Week 2: 15.5hrs
Monday 15.00 – 18.30pm
Wednesday 08.00 – 13.30pm
Thursday 15.00 – 18.30pm
Friday 15.00 - 18.30pm
The department operate from 06:00 through to 18:30 7 days a week including public holidays, the above posts will predominantly work 08:00-13:30 and 15:00-18:30.
The post holder will assist in the provision of a comprehensive and cost-effective catering service that meets the needs of patients whilst fulfilling the objectives of the Trust.
Duties will include the preparation, storage, packaging, distribution, regeneration and service of patient meals. Regularly handling frozen, chilled and cooked food items whilst standing for prolonged periods of time.
Ensure all patient meals are accurate and served in a timely manner.
To undertake a wide range of general kitchen and catering hygiene duties.
To work in accordance with Food Hygiene Regulations, Codes of Practice for Caterers and all relevant Trust policies.
To provide a full range of high quality ward catering services including the regeneration and attractive presentation of a wide range of cook-freeze food items.
You must be able to demonstrate good customer care skills, and have a basic knowledge of food service and food hygiene.
Flexibility to work between Castle Hill Hospital and Hull Royal Infirmary.
Please note: The role does involve physical work in an area with varying temperatures.
** Salary relates to year 1 of 3 year NHS pay deal
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
