We are seeking a Biomedical Scientist or Trainee Biomedical Scientist to join our team in the Blood Sciences Laboratory at Hull University Hospitals NHS trust.  Based in the heart of one of the UK's most vibrant cities, in an attractive part of England, our department is committed to training, research and clinical excellence.

Primarily based in the Clinical Biochemistry department, your role will be to carry out analytical tests in both our specialist and automated laboratories under the supervision of a Senior Biomedical Scientist.  We are looking for an individual who is hard working, innovative, sociable, and works well as part of a team.

To qualify for the Biomedical Scientist role applicants must be state registered with the HCPC.  Individuals applying for a trainee position must have an IBMS accredited Biomedical Science degree or equivalent.

Hull University Hospitals is one of the five largest trusts in England and serves a population of 1.2 million people with general and specialist services.  The Blood Sciences department has a large test repertoire and is one of the busiest and best-equipped laboratories in the region, processing approximately 8.5 million tests per year.  The Core Biochemistry laboratory is equipped with full Beckman Coulter automation including DXi and AU series analysers.  The Special Biochemistry laboratories include Mass Spectrometry, atomic absorption spectrophotometers, HPLC and electrophoresis systems.

The wide variety of expertise available, and the support we will give you, provides an ideal environment for a Biomedical Scientist to develop.  The successful applicant will rotate through all sections of the Automated and Special Biochemistry Laboratories and our satellite laboratory at Castle Hill Hospital. Participation in the out of hours rota covering Core Biochemistry service provision on a shift pattern basis is expected.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, forward thinking individual who wants to make a significant contribution to the development of the department and patient care.

Informal visits to the department are welcome.
