The Cancer Assessment unit – (CAU) is an exciting new development located in the Queen’s Centre for Oncology & Haematology (QCOH) and is the receiving unit for patients who are potentially suffering from acute complications relating to their on-going cancer treatment or the disease process itself.
The unit provides a rapid assessment of Acute Oncology (AO) patients presenting either through:
- Primary care providers / Allied Health Professional’s
- Internal Care Providers
The post holder will be an experienced nurse, who acting within their professional boundaries, will provide acute care for patients with cancer. This includes carrying the duty nurse bleep, co-ordinating and triaging admissions in conjunction with the medical staff. Also to include clinical assessment, and diagnosis in consultation with medical staff, implementation of treatment and evaluation of care. The post holder will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care for patients within the Queen’s Centre.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
