Hull University Teaching Hospitals Trust: Locum Consultant Ear Nose and Throat Surgeon


An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Locum Consultant Ear Nose and Throat Surgeon at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH). This post will be an initial 12-month appointment with a view to the successful candidate commencing work ASAP subject to the necessary checks and clearances.


The successful candidate will join an expanding Ear Nose and Throat department and will have a timetable consisting of 10 PA’s a week, which will initially include 8.5 DCC and 1.5 SPA split.  The job plan will be reviewed and agreed with the successful candidate to ensure an appropriate job plan dependent on their sub-specialist interest.


The post will be primarily be based at Castle Hill Hospital and the new appointee will become one of a team of eight Ear Nose and Throat Consultant Surgeons who work together to provide a comprehensive range of ENT services, along with sub specialist interests, to a general population in excess of 600,00 people.

The department also offers a full Head and Neck and Thyroid cancer service, and is a recognised regional centre, delivered by two specialist head and neck surgeons and a specialist thyroid surgeon within the Trust. The service is supported by the full range of allied surgical specialties including reconstructive plastic surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons, and neurosurgical and cardiothoracic surgeons.

In addition, the multi-disciplinary team is supported by colleagues from North Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The MDTs provide specialist cancer care for the North East Yorkshire and Humber Clinical Alliance which covers a population of approximately 1.2 million.
