This is a secondment opportunity and therefore the successful candidate will require permission to be released from his / her current post by his / her current line manager.

Our busy friendly Stoma Care Department, based in the Poppy Suite at Castle Hill Hospital, requires a highly motivated stoma care nurse who would like to utilise and expand their knowledge and develop skills in the field of stoma care and rectal irrigation. You will be joining the current team of 5 Clinical Nurse Specialists and Administrator in delivering a stoma care and bowel function service across the two acute hospitals.

You will have the opportunity to work in a supportive and stimulating environment within the Department of Colorectal Surgery and will provide specialist Colorectal/Stoma care advice and support to patients, their families and carers and other healthcare providers throughout the patient's care pathway. This will take place in both an in-patient and out-patient setting.

We offer a supportive environment with competency based training provided. In addition you will be supported to gain the relevant stoma care qualifications whilst in post.

The post holder will be a Registered Nurse with extensive proven post Registration experience and ideally have recent experience in a surgical speciality. The post holder should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will be required to work autonomously and as part of a team and in order to cope with the demands of the role will need to be flexible and resilient and demonstrate sensitivity to others in sometimes distressing situations.

A current driving licence and access to a car would be beneficial due to requirement to travel across different sites within HUTH.
