The Cancer Multidisciplinary Team Support Staff department has vacancies for 2 whole time equivalent Cancer Patient Coordinator posts. These are exciting and challenging posts vital to the success of suspected and diagnosed cancer patients receiving care and treatment in a timely manner.

The role includes tracking each patient through their pathway from first appointment with a cancer specialist within the hospital to receiving treatment for their disease. Duties include managing the weekly clinical meetings where a multi-disciplinary (specialist doctors, nurses and other health care professionals) team meets to discuss and agree the optimum care and treatment for each patient. In addition, carefully handling and sensitive and complex information that demonstrates each patient is 'on track' to be treated within national performance targets.

Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
